Acousteel Sound Tests
Acousteel is a Vibration Control Product that damps vibration through steel
thus reducing noise
The benefit of Acousteel to airborne sound is not significantly different
to standard steel in usual frequency ranges of 125Hz to 4kHz. Airborne sound
is reduced by adding mass and the mass of Acousteel is no different to standard
steel of the same gauge.
However Below 125Hz and above 4kHz these frequencies resonate structures
like the heavy bass you can feel through a Professional Hi Fi system.
This is airborne transmission. This is where Acousteel is a huge benefit
against standard steel. This benefit is difficult to chart with standard noise
measurement tests.
What is ACOUSTEEL?
Acoustic offers an effective and straight forward way to remove unwanted
noise and vibration from any steel or aluminium sheets, panels, pressings
etc. which have inherent noise problems. Acousteel offers many benefits over
traditional noise control products.
Acousteel is constructed like a sandwich with a thin (0.05mm) energy-absorbing
layer of viscoe-elastic polymer in the center of two metal skins. The result
of this is an audibly dead panel.

Materials can be mixed, for example a veneer of Stainless Steel can be bonded
to a thicker less expensive mild steel substrate, giving both an acoustic
solution and cost effective alternative to monolithic Stainless sheet, when
anticorrosive properties are required on only one face of the panel.
